PENNY JAYNE BLACK

Penny is a UK Singer/Songwriter originally from West Sussex, but now living in Hampshire near London. Her love of music came from her dad who was in the Navy, instead of reading her children stories at night, he would sing and play her country songs on his guitar. As a result she would lay awake at night making up her own songs and dreaming of a future as a singer.

As she grew up, she continued to write songs whilst having a variety of jobs including working at EMI Records, which really fuelled her fire to continue with a music career.

Her biggest boost came with a six-week adventure to California, where she immersed herself in Country Music whilst travelling from L.A to San Francisco and further up the Northern Coastline.

With this experience, along with influences from leading female singers of the 80s & 90s era, and the new crop of Singer/Songwriters, she has gone on to develop her own unique style.

She started performing around the South of England, building up a following, then in 2015 went to Nashville to record six of her songs, returning in April 2016 to complete her 11 Track self-titled album.

Her Debut Album consisted of a mix of Country/Pop, Alternative, and Retro Country, with Intimate, Powerful & Quirky tales of Love, Passion, Humour, and Hope.

Penny’s debut Single ‘California’, released on 1st September 2016, peaked at No.7 in the British & Irish Top 10 Hotdisc Charts. The single was also released in the USA and picked up spot plays in several States. The video to ‘California’ was nominated for ‘Best Video’ in the 2016 British & Irish HotDisc Awards.

In November 2016 Penny released her self-titled Debut Country Album ‘Penny Jayne Black’ and in December 2016 she promoted her Album with a UK Radio Tour.

A physical copy of her Album is available on the Store Page on her website.

In January 2017 Penny started putting musicians together, she did a ‘Whispering Bob Harris’ – ‘Under The Apple Tree’ Session which was broadcast in the summer, then in June, Penny started her ‘Both Sides of the Pond Tour’. The tour began over The CMA weekend in Nashville & finished up with a performance at ‘The British Country Music Awards’ in Wolverhampton on 22nd October.

The following Singles ‘Gotta Get to Nashville’, ‘Log Cabin’ & This Ain’t Love reached No.5, No.8 & No.10 respectively in the British & Irish Top 10 Hotdisc Charts & Penny has maintained the No.1 spot in The UK Country & The Global Country Reverbnation Charts for several months now.

Penny’s Single; ‘She Got a Call’ released on 1st August 2017 reached No.25 in The UK Country iTunes Chart and No.11 in The French Country iTunes Chart.

The UK Country Music Awards nominated Penny for 3 Awards: – UK Country Album of the Year; UK Female Country Singer of the Year & UK Country Artist of the Year 2017.

The BCMA Awards nominated Penny for ‘Horizon Act of the Year’.

In October 2017 Penny signed a production with a Nashville based Record label,  in November she went over to Nashville to co-write some new tracks & went back again in December to record them.

In January this year, Penny won Best Album & Best Solo Artist Female at The G.S.M.C. Awards 2018. She is the only Country Music artist to win an award for Best Album and Female Vocalist.

In February, Penny performed her new tracks at the Annual CRS Radio Seminar at The OMNI Hotel in Nashville in preparation her U.S. Single Release in spring.

Meanwhile Penny’s latest U.K. Single release “I’m Fine” recently peaked at No.15 in the UK Country iTunes Chart & No.2 in the Belgium Country iTunes Chart.

In April, Penny’s U.S. Single ‘Steel Horse’ was released and is now climbing ‘The New Music Weekly’ main Country Charts, Indie Country Charts & Main Internet Country Charts. She is currently the only British Artist in the chart!

Watch this space, this will be an exciting year ahead!

Peter Donegan

Almost inevitably, Peter Donegan has been performing since the age of five, given that the ‘Godfather of British Rock n Roll’, ‘King Of Skiffle’, the late Lonnie Donegan, is his father. Lonnie inspired every British Invasion band from The Beatles to Led Zeppelin. Even The White StripesJack White cites Lonnie as one of his major influences. All this runs through Peter’s veins and is clearly evident in his live performances, as well as in the studio. Amongst Peters own admirers are Nora Guthrie (daughter of seminal folk musician, Woody Guthrie) Crystal Gayle and Billy Bragg.

Primarily a singer/songwriter and piano player, Peter picked up the acoustic guitar after his Dad passed away in 2002 and taught himself to play the mandolin, harmonica, banjo and ukulele.

Peter was unintentionally born in London as his Dad Lonnie was still on tour when his mother (Lonnie’s then Manager) went into labour early, although the family were actually living in California where it was intended that he would be born. Peter was raised in Lake Tahoe, California then between Orlando, Florida and Malaga, Spain where the family spent quite some time.

No surprise then, from all this, that Peter loves Country music so much and considers himself a true British-American hybrid.
