Jo Harman + Jack Francis

Don't Miss Out
Time: Friday 7.00pm
Cost: £14 Advane

Jo Harman and her band visit The 1865, Southampton on 3rd March 2017 as part of the album launch of her much anticipated second studio album ‘People We Become’, which was recorded in Nashville by noted producer Fred Mollin (Carol King, Carly Simon, Joe Cocker etc) and features a cameo by Michael McDonald.

Jo is an award winning vocalist, songwriter and band leader who has performed at some of Europe’s most prestigious venues. The Daily Mirror called her ‘the finest female soul blues vocalist in the UK’ and Huey Morgan (Fun Lovin Criminals) said on his Radio 2 programme ‘sometimes you hear a voice that leaves you speechless…I am’. Her DIY debut album, released in 2013, was picked up V2 Records (Adele, Mumfords) etc in the Low Countries where it made the national album charts (alongside mainstream TV and Radio appearances for Jo). Since then Jo has played around 100 festivals in recent years – many as headliner – across a number of countries, culminating in 4 consecutive appearances at ‘BluesFest’ – resulting in her ‘Jo Harman Live at The Royal Albert Hall recorded by the BBC’ live album of 2015. Jo was also one of only 12 (otherwise household name) artists to play ParkPop in the Hague to 300,000 people. Jo has also been asked to perform at a number of high profile events for Amnesty International and, in particular, was one of a handful of artists asked to appear at Amnesty’s ‘Ambassador of Conscience’ Awards in Berlin where she performed for, and with, Joan Baez and Patti Smith. In 2014 she was nominated for 4 British Blues Awards, included ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’, which she won, and ‘Songwriter of the Year’ (runner up). She subsequently asked not to be considered for nomination thereafter, citing that ‘music should not be a competition’ and concerns that ‘blues’ did not necessarily describe her artistic style.

In her live show, Jo’s soul fuelled material covers hard rock to heart melting ballads, all performed with utter conviction alongside her first rate band. Apart from her own emotive covers, Jo also performs songs by other artists that mean something to her. Not to be missed.
