Merger of two Southampton Music Venues
When we started The 1865 in August 2013, it was our aim to create a successful live music and events venue. Our intention, once established, was to find a capable management team to take it forwards.
Recent sell out shows include: Levellers, Hawkwind, Alestorm, Dr Feelgood, Mud Morganfield, Trevor Nelson, The Story So Far, Kirk Fletcher, State Champs, and Amon Amarth.
We are very pleased to announce that from 22nd January 2016, Guy Benfield and his team from The Talking Heads music venue in Southampton have taken a lease on The 1865. This new venture will be known as ‘The 1865 (a Talking Heads venue).’
The Talking Heads is a well established and respected 260 capacity venue and they have exciting plans for growth. As well as taking over the management of The 1865, Southampton’s premier live music venue, they will also be relocating to the former Maple Leaf club, a smaller venue in The Polygon, Southampton.
This brings together two established, well respected names in the independent music business in a superb flexible 750 capacity venue located in the heart of the city. We will continue to host an exciting, varied programme of shows and events presented by major national and local promoters.
Upcoming shows include: Motionless in White, Rufus Stone, Fairport Convention, Pentangle, Big Country and Dr Feelgood with loads more in the pipeline.
What are we?
1865 is Southampton’s major new venue, located in Southampton’s city centre and with a capacity of more than 750 for standing only gigs, over 500 for club nights, 225 seated for comedy or 300 seated theatre style, 1865 is set to become the city’s new destination for entertainment.
